Editing data in "spreadsheet" mode
The usual way to edit a record in CatBase is to double-click on it in the list to open a view to the complete record. But sometimes it's simpler to edit in spreadsheet mode. Simple!
Switching between normal and spreadsheet-style editing modes
When you want to edit your data in Catbase, the standard way is to double-click on a record and open it up, and then you can edit the data within it. But sometimes it's easier to use it more in a spreadsheet mode. It's quite simple to do.
Just click on the Switch to Edit Mode button (at the bottom of the list). The view looks the same, but it now is going to behave differently. If you double click on a record, it doesn't open it, but it does activate it in the view. You can then click into a cell to edit it.
Add a new column to the view
You can add additional columns to the view by right-clicking anywhere on the list and choosing Add a column.
Reorganise the columns
You can reorganize the columns any way you like. Simply click a column heading and drag it left or right to reposition it. Resize a column by clicking the divider in the headings row and dragging left or right (just as you do in a spreadsheet).
Saving the view settings
This is a temporary view, but if you want to make your modified view the permanent view for this table, right click anywhere on it and choose Save the column settings for this view.
So now whenever you open this table, this view you'll see.
